Securing Your Plant & Container
How to secure a plant and container sited on masonry such as a concrete patio or a wall.

1 Drill a hole.

Chose a suitable site and drill a hole using a 6mm masonry drill bit. Place the central drainage hole of the container directly over the hole.

2 Insert the PlantAnchor assembly
Arrange the PlantAnchor assembly in the container and secure it to the masonry using the masonry anchor.

3 Position the plant

Having placed gravel or broken crockery in the base of the pot to aid drainage, place the root ball of the plant into the container.

4 Adjust to fit

Adjust the shape and length of the PlantAnchor strips so that they fit around the root ball. The ID Seal will fit around the top of the root ball, encircling the stem of the plant allowing room for plant growth.

5 Apply the ID Seal and engage the lock.

Engage the locking mechanism to fasten the ID Seal. Your plant and container are now secure. To complete the planting, fill the remainder of the container.

Your Plant And Container Are Now Secure!

For your own records file a photograph together with a reference to the unique identification number on the seal. These records may help prove ownership of stolen goods.

Apply a layer of gravel or pebbles to cover the top of the soil and the device. This looks good and helps to retain moisture around the plant.

Your Questions Answered

Can I take my containers with me when I move house?
Yes! Containers and plants secured with a PlantAnchor can be moved and resecured using the Seal Replacement Kit. This contains the instructions and replacement seals you will need.

How can I secure an exotic shrub in a container displayed at the front of the house in the summer and bring it inside over winter?
If you need to secure the container and plant, but intend to change the plant or plants it contains, then one option you have is to use the “pot within a pot” method. This is done by using a second container as an inner liner within the larger decorative container. The decorative container, the liner pot and the plant can be secured with a PlantAnchor in the normal way. At the end of the season you can remove the plant and the liner pot, replant and secure once again using the Seal Replacement Kit.

What should I do if I am offered goods with a PlantAnchor seal still attached?

Please make a note of the identification number and Email us at info@plantanchor.com. By referring to our records we may be able to trace the owners of the plant or ornament. The seal is difficult to remove because it is made from 5mm high tensile steel wire rope and is resistant to cutting with domestic tools. Each PlantAnchor seal carries our logo and a unique identification number.
